Checkpoint - every day life in Israel
Checkpoint (original title: Machssomim)
is a 2003 documentary film by Israeli filmmaker Yoav Shamir, showing the
everyday interaction between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian civilians
at several of the regions Israel Defence Forces checkpoints. The film
won five awards at various film festivals, including Best International
Documentary at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.
Dozens
of checkpoints lie scattered throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip,
manned by the Israeli Defence Forces. Thousands of Palestinians pass
through them every day, making them one of the major meeting points
between both sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Many different
encounters occur at these checkpoints each and every day, revealing a
reality with its own rules and regulations, a reality that has a
destructive impact on both societies.
Filmed over two years,
'Checkpoint' depicts the harsh and banal routine of these crossing
points and documents the day-to-day situations that form a microcosm of
the situation. The cameras film in a pure and non-manipulative manner so
that the viewer feels part of the experience of 'checkpoint culture'.
The film is an attempt to show the more human side of the situation,
and, as with any such depiction, will show all aspects of the human
condition - from the 'jobsworth' IDF recruits refusing to allow any
variation from their 'orders', from the most obnoxious of members of the
border security police at the Bethlehem checkpoint through to the very
humane IDF soldier at the Nablus South checkpoint, we are presented with
young men who are ultimately responsible for the overseeing of their
country's security. Balanced by this is the terrible plight of how the
situation affects 'ordinary' Palestinians. An ambulance stopped and
searched, ditto a school bus - both will ensure a lot of anger at such
depictions - until it is understood that both modes of transport have
been used in the past for the carrying of explosives. It does not alter
the impact on the Palestinians themselves - the checkpoints are mostly
unacceptable. BUt the film at least humanises the process and delves
behind some of the headline news.
Flipping Out - Israel's Drug Generation.
After being discharged with a bonus
of 15,000 shekels (about $4,300) after three years of compulsory
military service, an estimated 20,000 former Israeli soldiers travel to
India. About 90 percent take drugs and 2000 of the Israeli ex-soldiers
living in India 'flip out' each year. This documentary's introductory
scenes of soldiers breaking into Palestinian homes land and
non-directive interviews with these soldiers and professionals trying to
help them suggest that the military service has damaged them resulting
in post-traumatic stress disorders. Yet as distinct from the fate of
U.S. soldiers coming back form Afghanistan and Iraqi with similar mental
problems and cannot get adequate help from official agencies. Israeli
public and private organizations take responsibility for the problems
the army service created.
In India the ex-soldiers live in small
communal settings and hotels segregated from the Indian population, in
locations, they identify as Kasol sin or crime city. The winter months
are spend in Himalayan mountain areas and for the summer months the
Israelis migrate to Goa to continue enjoying a lifestyle of large
parties, use of virtually all drugs, including to marihuana, cocaine,
LSD, ecstasy and other hard drugs. Relations between Indians and
Israelis are pragmatic but not friendly. As one Israeli points out, the
Indians are like Arabs. Conversely Indians consider the Israelis to be
noisy, drug addicted and out of control. Yet with an average income of
$500 per year they depend on the funds provided by the Israeli
expatriates.
From the perspective of one former soldiers who has
been living in India for more than six years and served as a commander
of an Israeli elite unit there is a fine line between sanity and
madness, a borderline condition that can be discerned in the portraits
of this documentary. There is a frenzied look of people, incoherent
statements suspending the reality context and rapid motion activities.
Yet at the same time others seem to be in a state of drug induced bliss,
totally cooled out, and regressed to childlike states The former
commander suggests that, military service destroyed the identity and
meaning of life, and that staying on drugs rehabilitates former soldiers
by getting 'the crap' out of their system. In the army he faced
disgraceful things and his hand caused death and destruction. Yoav
Shamir presents none of the female ex-soldiers who live in Israeli
communities in India and also take drugs and seems to imply that females
adapt better to the stress of military service.
The documentary
shows the response of Israeli agencies to the growing problem of
settlements in India with ex-soldiers involved in drug use. The Israeli
government has funded through its anti-drug authority Warm House drop in
centers, a sort of community place run by a former Israeli officer
which welcomes all Israelis living there. An Israeli fundamentalist
group has established Chabad Houses trying to recuperate drug using and
addicted ex soldiers while also running a search and rescue mission for
Israelis freaking out on drugs. This work is carried out by former army
officer, Hilik Magnus whose task is to bring back to Israel those
soldiers who have suffered from psychotic and other violent breakdowns.
He suggests that many of the ex soldiers living there have no center,
are dislocated, and alienated and that drugs provide only a temporary
respite.
One telling encounter in FLIPPING OUT is the meeting
between the Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Eli Ishay and former soldiers.
One female soldier tells him that she is on her second trip to India
and that "...here one can feel normal again .no bombings, no corruption,
none of that pressure [faced] back in Israel.... one comes here and
feels normal again". Another soldier hopes not to return Israel soon; he
does not belong to that country any more and considers having an
Israeli passport to be a problem since he feels more at home in India.
Isahy
considers these as sad stories but emphasizes that Israeli has to fund
efforts such as the Warm House, since "...these former soldiers are our
children, our boys and girls... thousands come here and come home
mentally devastated" thus placing the onus on the experience in India
rather than on the military service.
On the plane going back to
Israel the deputy prime minister is in the company of Magus and one
flipped out former soldier who belies that he can save humanity since he
is a friend to the US president. While the plan disappears on the
Horizon, images of a gigantic techno beach party with several hundred
ex-soldiers high on drugs provide the coda to this disturbing yet superb
documentary.

of film-making, Kubrick has created the ultimate study of mind
manipulation in this film. It is a protest against reform programs that
take away freedom of a choice, and the message of the film in terms of
paying for one's sins in all eternity is inescapable, evident to a large
extent in the sardonic nature of the tale. Although set in the future,
it hardly feels like it is, this being because the message of the film
is overwhelmingly powerful and capable of applying to any age.
Mind control (also known as brainwashing,
coercive persuasion, mind abuse, menticide, thought control, or thought
reform) refers to a process in which a group or individual
"systematically uses unethically manipulative methods to persuade others
to conform to the wishes of the manipulator(s), often to the detriment
of the person being manipulated". The term has been applied to any
tactic, psychological or otherwise, which can be seen as subverting an
individual's sense of control over their own thinking, behavior,
emotions or decision making. In Propaganda: The Formation of Men's
Attitudes, Jacques Ellul maintains that the "principal aims of these
psychological methods is to destroy a man's habitual patterns, space,
hours, milieu, and so on."
Theories of brainwashing and of mind
control were originally developed to explain how totalitarian regimes
appeared to succeed in systematically indoctrinating prisoners of war
through propaganda and torture techniques. These theories were later
expanded and modified to explain a wider range of phenomena, especially
conversions to new religious movements (NRMs).

False flag has its origins in naval

as being carried out under a false flag or black flag. Operations
carried during peace-time by civilian organisation, as well as covert

Two Views of History
There are two fundamental ways to view history. We call one the catastrophic or accidental view of history. We call the other view the conspiratorial view of history.
Accidental History
In the catastrophic or accidental view of
history we are led to believe that historical events, such as wars and
revolutions were the direct result of some sudden or surprising event.
While the catastrophic view is accurate for weather, volcanoes and
earthquakes, it does not always provide a realistic view of humanity and
events influenced by man.
Young, malleable American and other
Western minds are sadly taught the Accidental view of history in the
government school systems. This view is reinforced throughout their
lives by the controlled mass media. As a result, when most discover the
Conspiratorial View of History, the immediate reaction is shock,
disbelief and a refusal to accept something other than they've been
taught to believe.
Conspiratorial History
Conspiratorial history studies that part
of history that is a product of man's planning. In conspiratorial
history we are led to believe that events, such as wars and revolutions,
are the result of planned events. While the conspiratorial view is not
accurate for weather, volcanoes and earthquakes, it is a realistic and
accurate view of the interrelationship of man and nations. Since the
planning for most of these events was done in secret, we use the term conspiratorial history. That is; this history is the result of plans constructed in secret, which by definition is a conspiracy.

We believe that current world events are
not simply circumstantial, but the result of an organized campaign by an
elite group of unseen and widely unknown world leaders. Their goal is
to exercise absolute dictatorial control over the world, to establish a New World Order.
The Cause of War
Wars start when one nation moves into the
territory of another; depressions occur when markets take unexpected
downturns; inflations occur when prices are driven up by shortages;
revolutions start when the people, always spontaneously, rise up to
overthrow the existing government.
These are the traditional explanations of historical events. Events happen by accident; there do not seem to be any causes.
But this explanation of history leaves
gnawing questions in the minds of serious students. Is it possible that
government leaders and others planned these events and then orchestrated
them to their desired conclusions? Is it possible that even the great
catastrophes of history were part of this plan?
There is an explanation of historical
events that answers these questions in the affirmative. It is called the
Conspiratorial View of History and it is the alternative to the
Accidental View, the view that is commonly held today. It is possible,
therefore, to summarize the major events of history into two alternative
schools of thought:
The Accidental View of History:
Historical events occur by accident, for no apparent reason. Rulers are powerless to intervene.
The Conspiratorial View of History:
Historical events occur by design for
reasons that are not generally made known to the public, but are well
known to those in power at the time.
Franklin D. Roosevelt who certainly saw
many monumental events occur during his consecutive administrations has
been quoted as saying: "In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it
happens, it was planned that way."
If harmful events are planned, it follows
that the people who were about to suffer through the scheduled event
would act to prevent the event from occurring if they knew about it in
advance. The people expect government to protect them from harmful
events.
But if the events still occur after the
government officials had been expected to prevent them, the government
officials have failed in their assigned duties. There are only two
explanations as to why they failed:
The events overwhelmed them, and could not have been prevented; or
The events were allowed to occur because the officials wanted them to occur.
It is difficult for the casual observer
to believe that World War 1 and World War 2 could not have been
prevented, as humane people of conscience do not allow harmful events to
occur.
If a planned and unwanted event is
allowed to happen, those who planned the event would have to have acted
in secret so as to prevent discovery of their plans by those who would
be adversely affected.
Planners working in secret to plan an
event that the people do not wish to occur are, by definition, members
of a conspiracy. Webster's defines conspiracy as a "combination of
people, working in secret, for an evil or unlawful purpose."
Not only must the Conspirators work in
secret, they must make every effort to ensure that their plans are not
made public. The first task of a conspiracy, then, becomes that of
convincing the people that the conspiracy itself does not exist.
This makes the task of uncovering the machinations of the conspiracy all the more difficult.
Conspiracies Exposed
There are three ways of exposing a Conspiracy:
One is for any of the participants in the conspiracy to break with
it and to expose his or her involvement. This takes an extremely
courageous individual, and that type of exposure is indeed rare.
The second group of exposers are those who have unknowingly
participated in a conspiratorial planning of an event but who didn't
realize it until later. These individuals, and there aren't many in the
history of the world, have also exposed the inner workings of the
conspiracy at great peril to themselves.
The third method of exposing a conspiracy is for researchers to
uncover conspiratorial designs in the events of the past. If you're
interested in this field of study I'm sure you've come across many such
sources who expose conspiracies.
It is our belief that a conspiracy does
indeed exist, and that it is extremely large, deeply entrenched, and
therefore extremely powerful. It is working to achieve absolute and
brutal rule over the entire human race by using wars, depressions,
inflations and revolutions to further its aims. The Conspiracy's one
unchanging purpose has been to destroy all religion, all existing
governments, and all traditional human institutions, and to build a new
world order out of the wreckage they have created.
Notice that if the Conspiracy does exist,
it will do everything it can to deny the charges of both those who seek
to expose it and those who claim to have been a part of it.
"Three hundred men, all of whom know one
another, direct the economic destiny of Europe and choose their
successors from among themselves." Walter Rathenau, who in 1909
controlled German General Electric.
"Fifty men have run America and that's a high figure." Joseph Kennedy, the father of the late president John Kennedy.
"There does exist, and has existed for a
generation, an international Anglophile network which operates, to some
extent, in the way the radical Right believes the Communists act. In
Fact, this network, which we may identify as the Round Table Groups, has
no aversion to cooperating with the Communists, or any group, and
frequently does so."
"I know of the operations of this network
because I have studied it for twenty years and was permitted for two
years, in the early 1960's, to examine its papers and secret records."

What Motivates the Conspiracy?
The ultimate purpose of this Conspiracy
is power. There are some who desire this more than even material goods,
although the two frequently go together.
"Rose Kennedy (the wife of Joseph
Kennedy) knew that the man she loved loved a power beyond the power of
money. He wanted the power of government, and he would have it." Pearl
Buck author of The Kennedy Women.
The Conspiracy, then, needs conspirators,
and it is logical to ask why illustrious men of wealth and fortune
would join such an enterprise.
"The answer is quite the reverse of the
question: These men (involved with the Conspiracy) became illustrious
primarily because they were part of the Conspiracy." Blair Coan, author
of The Red Web.
So those involved do not become rich
and/or illustrious and then join the Conspiracy; they become rich and
illustrious because they are members of the Conspiracy.
But what is their motive? What prompts men to seek wealth and position?
"When a person has all the money he needs, his goal becomes power." Former Congressman John Schmitz.
"There are two passions which have a
powerful influence on the affairs of men. These are... love of power and
love of money.... When united... they have the most violent effects."

However, power itself has a corrupting
influence on those who seek it. In an oft-quoted truth. Lord Acton
explained power thus: "Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts
absolutely."
Those who seek power will be corrupted by
it. They will be willing to intentionally cause depressions,
revolutions, and wars in order to further their desire for more power.
This corrupting nature of the very pursuit of power explains why the
moral mind of the individual who neither desires power over others nor
understands the desire for such power cannot fathom why power-seekers
would want to create human misery through wars, depressions, and
revolutions.
In other words, the conspirators are
successful because the moral citizen (you and I) cannot accept the
conclusion that other individuals would actually wish to create
incredibly destructive acts against their fellow citizens.
Another power seeker, the Russian
anarchist Bakunin, explained that this process of corruption even
affected those dedicated to freedom who were given power to protect the
powerless. He wrote that "... the possession of power transformed into a
tyrant even the most devoted friend of liberty."
"Power is the end. What other delight is
there but to enjoy the sheer sense of control? Let me see any other
motive in the people who command." Richard J. Whalen, author of The Founding Father, speaking of Joseph Kennedy.
So the motive of the Conspirators has been identified: It is Power!
For every question regarding our world,
there is a conspiracy theory offered from some quarter claiming to
address it. These conspiracy theories number into the hundreds and they
are nearly always dead ends, or at best, lead to another conspiracy and
so on, ad infinitum. Even though it’s become obvious to most that
something is not quite right, and that some sort of global conspiracy
does indeed exist, it is still hard to see exactly what it is, and where
the truth really lies.
It is time the people of the world stood
up and paid heed to the urgency and importance. Yet, you say, even if
one were to do so, then how do we the ordinary individual, ever get to
the bottom of this? And if we do ever get to the bottom of it, then what
are we to do then? And those are both very good questions.
Well, the best way to start is to get all
fluoride out of your diet and gain an understanding of history. Then
learn to look at each news story from a global perspective. Disregard
most of what the announcer tells you to believe, and place the event
where it belongs, on the Global stage. Then ask yourself that old Greek
adage – Cui Bono.
Who Benefits? And more importantly, when
you discover a truth, uncover a lie, or find an anomaly, tell your
friends. Spread the information as far and wide as you can reach because
the media most certainly will not. However the most important thing of
all in order to be able to do either of the above is to be aware of your
